Position located in Caskey, South Carolina
Responsibilities of the Technical Trainer – Analytical Chemistry:
- Collaborate in routine testing and evaluate raw materials, stability, and finished product samples, helping with Out-Of-Specification results when necessary.
- Identify the training requirements for Quality Laboratory staff and manage training matrices to track progress and identify gaps.
- Create training materials aligned with business demands for testing raw materials, intermediates, and finished products.
- Support laboratory management in onboarding new personnel.
- Establish a quarterly development program to update laboratory staff on the latest technological and scientific advancements, utilizing webinars, scholarly articles, and expert presentations.
- Foster the development of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in laboratory methodologies to enhance training efforts.
- Design and implement a “Train-the-Trainer” program for effective knowledge transfer.
- Provide hands-on training or live lectures to enhance the skills of Quality Laboratory personnel.
- Create a competency assessment program to routinely evaluate staff expertise and identify retraining needs to uphold laboratory accreditations like ISO 17025.
- Assist in retraining efforts to address corrective actions from laboratory investigations.
- Lead the technical transfer of analytical methods to the Quality Control team.
- Mentor and educate chemists on proper method execution and interpretation of validation results.
- Support the Calibration Program.
- Administer the Empower program and develop “Superusers” to address business needs across all laboratory shifts, ensuring laboratory data integrity aligns with regulatory standards.
- Assist in maintaining the inventory of instrumentation parts and consumables.
- Help manage the in-house preventative maintenance program for instrumentation, including coordination with third-party services.
- Carry out additional tasks as assigned by supervisors to meet organizational objectives.
- Maintain effective communication with various departments and work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Requirements of the Technical Trainer – Analytical Chemistry:
- A Bachelor’s, Master’s, or equivalent degree in analytical chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related discipline, with over 10 years of experience in analytical methods within a GMP environment focused on nutraceuticals or pharmaceuticals.
- Previous experience in training or educational roles is preferred.
- Ability to provide training support to Quality Laboratory staff on both first and second shifts while minimizing disruptions to laboratory operations.
- Expertise in analytical techniques, including chromatographic, spectroscopic, titrimetric, and wet chemistry analyses.
- Familiarity with Empower Software and other laboratory applications, such as Tiamo, utilized for chromatographic and spectroscopic methods, as well as wet chemistry processes.
- Proficient in troubleshooting laboratory instruments, particularly HPLC and GC systems.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory instrumentation, including LC-MS, GC-MS, ICP-MS, HPTLC, HPLC, ICP, GC, UV-Vis, and FTIR.
- Understanding of statistical methods, including data trend analysis and experimental design, is highly desirable, along with proficiency in interpreting laboratory data.
- Comprehensive knowledge of routine laboratory operations and industry regulations, including FDA and ICH guidelines; experience in implementing and ensuring compliance with pharmaceutical and/or nutritional supplement GLP/GMP practices is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively at all organizational levels.
